Five hundred and fifty people filled the Centre on April 18, 2009 to honour the voluntary work of two of its members: Avelino Nobre de Fonseca and Jose Gomes Botelho.
Avelino served the Centre with many different Boards over a period of 18 years and Joe Botelho, is currently vice-president of the Fiscal Committee. Both of them have been instrumental during the renovations immediately after the acquisition of the Centre and more recently during the addition of the Stage. Generous with their time and willing give financial help Avelino and Joe do not limit themselves to the PCCM.
Avelino served the Federation of Portuguese Business and Professionals for five years, two of which as executive vice- president, served as CFO of Mario Silva’s campaign, the federal MP for Davenport, and is currently Treasurer of the Masonry Contractors Association.
Joe Botelho, volunteered at Casa dos Acores, Club do Porto of Toronto and Society of Portuguese Disabled person building Fund as well as for Portuguese Support Services for Quality Living, a group dedicated to assisting physically challenged individuals and seniors in Hamilton. Joe is currently president of this organization.

Once again, diner was served by the dedicated group of directors and volunteers that serve this Centre. Avelino and Joe visibly pleased with the outcome of event thanked everyone present and even manage to inject,in good taste, some humor in their remarks.
